I am an artist who loves storytelling and narrative art. Growing up, I only watched cartoons with some of my favorites being Zig and Sharko, Oggy and the Cockroaches, and Pokemon. I also loved watching video games because the visuals were so fun with whimsical realities and bright colors. Some worlds felt like earth but just a bit different. These animations allowed me to escape reality, and enter an alternate universe where anything was possible. Because writing has always been a struggle, I saw drawing and illustration as a primary way of expressing myself, opening a doorway for me to be creatively in charge of the narrative.
As an artist, I have an overactive imagination where I can visualize one concept and I start to build off of that one idea. Before long, I have a million thoughts in my brain that must become tangible visual forms. For me, illustrating is a way to declutter the conversations in my mind and most of the time, those same ideas end up on the canvas. I make all types of characters, from whimsical to tragic, all with their own unique worlds. I like to create situations with exaggerated circumstances and characters that defy ordinary life. I do this by using extremely bright colors, a diversity of textures and detail, and a wide range of markmaking. When I am working my process makes me extremely happy. I hope my work provides an escape and makes others happy too.
